Teach the Need, a recently launched Lowcountry initiative, is providing a 6-week restaurant skills curriculum to students in eight area, Title I high schools. The goal is to help these young adults develop the skills and confidence needed to secure – and keep – jobs in the food and beverage industry.
Established by Mickey Bakst, General Manager of Charleston Grill at Charleston Place and Michael Miller, a local entrepreneur and youth advocate, in conjunction with the Charleston County School Board, Teach the Need aims to provide viable employment opportunities and future success.
There are currently 16 teachers on staff at TTN representing some of the most talented food and beverage professionals in the Charleston restaurant community. If you are a passionate restaurant professional looking to give back and educate the future of our industry please contact us.
Hire these graduates. Donate. Volunteer. Let’s work together to reward hard work with meaningful opportunities. We look forward to hearing from you!
